Sixth Grade Sunday School
Sixth grade is full of changes and transitions - new school, new friends and new routine. Those transitions also occur at church. The 6th grade year is a time of transition to, and preparation for, our Confirmation Ministry, which officially begins in 7th grade. Throughout the year, students will learn more about different religions and denominations by studying and visiting them for worship. These visits give youth an appreciation for other communities of faith, as well as helping them to think about who we are in comparison with other denominations and bodies of faith. This estabishes the youth for Confirmation where they are encouraged to ask questions and seek to discover who we are and why we do what we do as a congregation.
The final church visit for the 2016-17 school year will be on May 20 when we attend College View Seventh Day Adventist, located at 4801 Prescott Avenue.
For each unit, we invite a guest presenter to share a bit of denominational history and tradition focusing on worship, sacraments and theology. We then visit a congregation for worship and finish the unit with a time to debrief and discuss the worship experience. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the congregational visits with us.
