Preschool Staff
Karen Travis is the Director of First Lutheran Preschool as well as a teacher on Monday-Wednesday-Friday. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNL. She has taught in the Murray and Lincoln Public School systems. This is her 22nd year with First Lutheran. She and her husband have two grown daughters and one son-in-law. Outside of the preschool, Karen enjoys cooking, hiking, and playing in the handbell choir at the church where she is a member.
Jean Hinton has taught the Monday-Wednesday-Friday class since 2003, and was a substitute for the preschool before that. Jean has a Bachelor's Degree from Kearney State (now UNK). She and her family, her husband and two sons, have been members of First since 1988. She has taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School many years at First. She enjoys reading, stamping, crafts, and planning activities for her kids when she's not working at the preschool.
Barb Monson is in her first year teaching the Monday-Wednesday-Friday class. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Nebraska Wesleyan and a Masters' of Social Work from UNO. She has worked as a family therapist and as a child and adolescent therapist, as well as serving as an EAP Counselor. She and her husband, along with their three children belong to First Lutheran. Barb has taught and coordinated Vacation Bible School and Sunday School for many years. In here free time, Barb likes to read, camp, fish, boat, and spend time with her family.

Danae Lorenzen has taught the Tuesday-Thursday class for three years. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNL. She also taught as a substitute teacher with Lincoln Public Schools for five years. Danae and here husband have three boys. She has taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School for many years at the church where her family attends. In her free time, Danae is active in the PTO and church activties. She also likes to scrapbook, read, play Bunco, and help with her boys' sporting and Scout activities

Becky has taught the Tuesday-Thursday class for five years. She is an active member of First Lutheran, where she has taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School for many years. She is also active in the church's drama ministry, performing in and supporting many skits, plays, and dramas at First. Becky has many years of 'hands-on" experience with kids - she has two grown sons and four grandchildren. In her spare time, Becky likes to...(she doesn't have spare time).
