For many years, First Lutheran Church has been blessed to host a Nuer worship service every Sunday at noon — a beautiful expression of faith, culture and community.
The Nuer people are originally from South Sudan and the Nuer language is one of several Nilotic languages spoken in East Africa. For members of our Nuer community, worshiping in their home language is a powerful way to pray, sing, hear Scripture and proclaim God’s love in words that feel deeply personal and spiritually meaningful.
Nuer worship is vibrant, expressive and full of joy. You’ll often hear spirited singing, rhythmic clapping and drumming and heartfelt prayers, all reflecting a rich cultural tradition and deep faith.
We are grateful to share space, faith and fellowship with our Nuer brothers and sisters each week. Their presence among us is a gift and their worship reminds us that God’s love speaks every language.
