Ed Love and Friends to Open 8th Season of First Friday Jazz

By October 1, 2018Events, News

Ed Love and Friends will open the 8th season of First Friday Jazz at First Lutheran this Friday from 11:30 am-1:00 pm!

The performance will feature a six person combo of Ed’s friends and colleagues. With Ed on saxophone and clarinet, he will be joined by Bob Kruger on trumpet, Chris Leach on trombone, pianist Tom Harvill, Hans Sturm on bass and Justin Jones on drums.

Ed calls his concert theme, “Jazz History 101.” It will feature songs written over the last 100 years of jazz history, including New Orleans Dixieland, the Swing Era, Be-bop, Brazilian bossa nova and a piece written especially for this concert.

The concert is free, but a free will offering of non-perishable food for the local food pantry is always appreciated. Bring a friend or two and stay for all the concert or as much as you can.

Here is a short clip of Ed performing at his concert last year to help you get in the mood for Friday!
