Last Saturday and Sunday middle school youth from across the Nebraska Synod gathered for the Middle School Youth Gathering at First Lutheran in Kearney, Nebraska. Six youth from First Lutheran participated and one also served on the planning team for the event, learning valuable leadership skills. Youth had a great time meeting new friends, worshiping together and participating in workshops that helped teach Biblical concepts, the need for community and focusing on physical health and wellbeing – all important for developing and growing in faith. First Lutheran youth participated in workshops centered around building with Legos, making Empanada, decorating cookies, making friendo bracelets, welcoming others through a blessing centered around the Trinity and laughing Yoga. The youth also participated in service projects of tying blankets and making Valentines for Veterans and Assisted Living residents. They had a chance to visit the local YMCA to enjoy various activities, such as swimming, a climbing wall and playing games. There was also a Q & A session with the current Bishop, Scott Johnson. Enjoy the photos of our First youth learning, serving, worshiping, networking and playing!
