The annual Gifts of Hope Market offered at First Lutheran Church began in 2008. Its name back then – Shoulder to Shoulder Market – came from a Ugandan saying about how communities best work.
The focus of thinking beyond the walls of the congregation to bring wholeness and healing to the community continues. Each year the December market brings a reminder and many opportunities to think “outside the box”, in this case, our traditional holiday gift boxes.
100% of the Gifts of Hope Market proceeds leave First Lutheran Church to go to work locally, in the region and around the globe. More than $65,000 was raised in the past six years alone.
The 2020 market is a ground-breaking one! Gifts of Hope will take place online, using a 23 page interactive digital catalog that is now available for browsing. From 8:00 am on Saturday, December 5, through 10:00 pm on December 6, the market will be open for online purchases and donations.
Featured in this year’s market: ELCA World Hunger Good Gifts/God’s Global Barnyard, Mission Market Place, Empowered by Light, Matt Talbot Homelessness Outreach and Diversion, Lutheran Family Services Telehealth Counseling, Mosaic International, Center for Legal Immigration Assistance, Gotta Be Me and CEDARS Home for Children.
2020 – What perfect timing for a Gift of Hope! See you at the Market!
