In October several First Lutheran members met to prayerfully consider what we as a welcoming community could offer to support Afghan refugees. The group took a leap of faith and agreed to sponsor a family as soon as possible and then a second family a bit later. Sponsorship activities begin with furnishing an apartment which Lutheran Family Services will locate. Refugees who receive support and care through sponsorship have a much greater chance of successful readjustment to a new culture and community.
