“Forgiveness” was the theme for day three of Operation Restoration Vacation Bible School.
How many times do we forgive? 70×7. We looked at broken things and figured out how to use broken pieces. We had a great time pounding pieces of crayons in science and then molding new designs by melting the pieces. In storytelling, we got to use ripped pieces of paper to make pictures. Forgiveness stones were hid around the church to find and then we painted with water on the sidewalk. The sun dried up the water and the pictures disappeared – just like our sins disappear when Jesus forgives us. In service learning we heard a story of forgiveness and did an experiment to show when we hold our anger inside it bubbles up and “explodes” – reminding us of how important it is to ask for forgiveness and to forgive others.
