Be a Guardian Angel to Minor Immigrants and Families

By December 31, 2017Education, News, Serve

First Lutheran is a member of the AMMPARO-Network of Welcoming Congregations to immigrants and their families no matter their document status. The Nebraska and Western Iowa Synods are partnering together to work for justice and love for our neighbors in engaging the ELCA’s AMMPARO strategy in some specific ways. One of those strategies includes being the church in the courtroom as a trained Guardian Angel for migrant minors and their families. The two synods will hold a one-day training session on Saturday, January 13, from 9:30 am-4:00 pm, for any one interested in serving as a Guardian Angel. The training will be held at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Omaha. Please contact Pastor Justin (pastorjustin@flclincoln.org) or Sunni Richardson (sunni@flclincoln.org) if you would like to attend. You can learn more about AMMPARO and the Guardian Angel program at www.elca.org/ammparo.
