On April 30 from 6:30–8 PM, members of First Lutheran will join others from across our community at the Justice in Action Nehemiah Action Assembly, held at St. Mark’s Methodist Church here in Lincoln.
First Lutheran is one of 27 faith communities that make up Justice in Action (JIA)—an interfaith, grassroots coalition in Lancaster County committed to addressing some of the biggest challenges facing our neighbors. Together, we believe real change happens when people of faith come together, speak up and act.
The Nehemiah Action Assembly, inspired by Nehemiah 5, gathers over 1,000 people annually to call on leaders for systemic change. This year’s focus includes mental health navigation, adult pre-trial diversion, food insecurity, and eviction mediation. First Lutheran aims for 50 attendees—your presence matters! Sign up by emailing Kari Hoeft or using the bulletin insert during worship.
Love to sing? Join the pop-up Justice in Action Choir! Rehearse at 5:30 PM at St. Mark’s and sing at the start of the Assembly. Even a few voices from each church make a powerful statement of unity. Sign up by April 20 online.
Join us on Sunday, April 26, for Justice in Action Sunday, where worship will center on our baptismal call to work for justice.
