First Lutheran’s Social Ministry Team is sponsoring an ingathering for Connection Point from May 10-24, offering an opportunity for our congregation to support the practical needs of our neighbors in Lincoln.
Connection Point is a community center located in the Clinton Neighborhood of Lincoln, housed in a former Methodist church. Since 2015, it has served as a place where “all are welcome, all belong and all serve one another.” Its programs focus on hospitality, community support and connection, including Open Shelf, Career Closet, Lunch Church, English classes, Rejoicing Spirits and community support groups.
We were grateful to recently welcome Pastor Katherine Ebling-Frazier as a featured speaker at Adult Forum and again at last Sunday’s Town Hall Meeting, where she extended an invitation for First Lutheran to partner with Connection Point in its work. Sunday’s Noisy Offering was also dedicated to supporting Connection Point.
As one next step in this partnership, we invite members to bring new or gently used household items for the May 10-24 ingathering. Requested donations include:
- Towels: bath towels, hand towels and washcloths
- Kitchen tools and towels: spatulas, whisks, wooden spoons, ladles, pancake turners, strainers, kitchen towels, dishcloths and dishwashing soap
- Cutlery/flatware: knives, spoons and forks
Thank you for helping First Lutheran extend care, hospitality and practical support through Connection Point. Watch for more opportunities to collaborate with and support their important work in our community.
