Thank you First Lutheran for being such a faithful supporter of the CROP Hunger Walk throughout the years! The Lincoln Walk raised $24,828.80 in 2022, with a quarter of the proceeds helping food agencies in the Lincoln and Lancaster area! Since 1988, Lincoln walks have raised over $1,089,880 to fight against hunger and poverty!
Church World Service (CWS), sponsor of the CROP Walk, is helping to build global resilience by teaching about food security and nutrition, climate adaptive agriculture, disaster response and preparedness, methods for sustainable farming, hygiene and waste management, farm/animal management, beekeeping and renewable energy technology and building techniques. CWS also provides nutritious food, access to clean water, seeds, bees, sheep, cows, pigs, goats, chickens, fish, renewable energy technologies, disaster response, opportunities to amplify women’s voicesand displacement services for refugees and asylum seekers.
The 2023 Lincoln CROP Walk will be held on Sunday, October 8, at 1:30 PM at Bethany Christian Church, located at 1645 North Cotner Boulevard. Sign up online as a walker or donor. Walkers, click on ‘Find an existing team to join’ and type in First Lutheran Church. Once you have started your own page, ask friends and family members to sponsor you by donating online.
To donate, click ‘Donate’ in the top bar. Select ‘Find a participant or team to support’. Type in First Lutheran Church or a specific walker’s name. You are encouraged to make donations online, but in-person collection is still an option. Make a note that your check or cash is designated for CROP and leave it with the church office or one of the walkers.
