Darryl White to Close First Friday Jazz Season

By April 28, 2019April 29th, 2019Events, News
Can you believe another season of First Friday Jazz will wrap up this Friday? Wow! What a season it has been…record crowds, amazing artists and some of the best free jazz music you will find in the region!

Of course, the last concert of the season can only feature one of the best trumpet artists and First Friday Jazz fan favorites – Darryl White! The smooth sounds of Darryl’s trumpet will be backed by Hans Sturm on bass and Ron Cooley on guitar.

Darryl has chosen a wide range of jazz pieces for the concert. One highlight will feature bassist, Hans Sturm, in a tribute to some of the great bass players from our past, including Charles Mingus and Ray Brown. White’s trumpet performances have earned him a great reputation at jazz festivals, clubs, orchestras and studios throughout the United States. His career has allowed him to balance his jazz performance with solo projects of his own.

Join us from 11:30 am-1:00 pm this Friday at First Lutheran Church. Lunch will be available to purchase onsite or bring your own. And, don’t froget to also bring a friend or two with you!

Mark your calendar! The 9th season of First Friday Jazz concerts will begin October 4.
