Day one of VBS is in the books! Our theme versetoday was “We love because God first loved us” (1 John 4:19). We learned about Malawi in storytime and created Mbiras – thumb pianos – in crafts. We tried corn porridge, Mgaiwa phala and Mandasi (fried dough similiar to plain donut holes) in snacks. In Simulation Station we made shelters out of cardboard and tarps and learned many people around the world really do live like this. We were asked how well these shelters would keep us dry, warm or cool. At games we used a parachute to see how well “neighbors” could work together to keep the balls in the chute or untangle the knot without letting go. Our preschoolers are also enjoying their own stations of storytime, snacks, play and crafts. Stay tuned to find out what theme verse and country we learn about tomorrow!
