Bear one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2, NRSV)
Caring for others in need is part of our DNA as a congregation. It is tied to our understanding of what it means to welcome. We have a number of caring ministries, including Stephen Ministry.
Our Stephen Ministry has been around for more than a decade and has trained, volunteer Stephen Ministers who have journeyed alongside many, many others through tough moments in life, such as the death of a loved one, the end of a friendship or significant relationship, a health-related diagnosis, loss of employment, moving to a new community and many other life- changing events. Stephen Ministers offer a listening ear, prayerful presence, open heart and distinctively Christian care.
Are you dealing with a life crisis and need someone to walk by your side? Do you know someone who is? You might think you are alone or that asking for help is a sign of weakness. Read Kathleen’s personal story of how she will always be grateful for her Stephen Minister and will never be embarrassed or ashamed that she revealed a crack in her armor and said, “Hey, I need help.”
Please know you can ask for help, too, and when you do there are Stephen Ministers at First Lutheran who are willing to walk with you. Send a confidential message to learn more at stephen.ministry@flclincoln.org.
