Dealing With a Crisis or Difficulty in Life? Stephen Ministers are Ready to Listen and Support

By August 17, 2023October 31st, 2023Care Ministry, News, Serve

Bear one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2, NRSV)

Caring for others in need is part of our DNA as a congregation. It is tied to our understanding of what it means to welcome. We have a number of caring ministries, including Stephen Ministry.

Our Stephen Ministry has been around for more than a decade and has trained, volunteer Stephen Ministers who have journeyed alongside many, many others through tough moments in life, such as the death of a loved one, the end of a friendship or significant relationship, a health-related diagnosis, loss of employment, moving to a new community and many other life- changing events. Stephen Ministers offer a listening ear, prayerful presence, open heart and distinctively Christian care.

Are you dealing with a life crisis and need someone to walk by your side? Do you know someone who is? You might think you are alone or that asking for help is a sign of weakness. Read Kathleen’s personal story of how she will always be grateful for her Stephen Minister and will never be embarrassed or ashamed that she revealed a crack in her armor and said, “Hey, I need help.”

Please know you can ask for help, too, and when you do there are Stephen Ministers at First Lutheran who are willing to walk with you. Send a confidential message to learn more at
