Join us tomorrow for a special presentation by Dr. Theresa Milk, a Lakota mother and grandmother, and author of Haskell Institute: 19th Century Stories of Sacrifice and Survival. This special event will be held at 4:00 pm at First Lutheran Church.
Dr. Milk received her Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Haskell Indian Nations University. In 2000, she was selected as an inaugural Gates Scholar, which allowed her to attend the University of Kansas School of Education for her Master’s degree and Ph.D. Dr. Milk taught English and American Indian Studies at Haskell until her recent retirement. She is currently working on stories of Native Americans at other boarding schools in the U.S. She will share knowledge and insight about Native American boarding schools and help us connect with personal stories about the children who were placed at these schools.
All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend this special event.
