The dictionary says “Grace” is “unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification.” Sounds like seminary talk. Translating that so it makes sense to preschool and elementary school children is our FaithTrek challenge this month.
Several key concepts about “grace” are being emphasized:
…Grace is a gift from God. We did not/cannot do anything to earn God’s love.
…God forgives us for our mistakes, but that does not mean we can just do anything we want. We are called to be God’s hands
in the world and love our neighbor.
…God expects us to forgive others. Learning to forgive can be hard and sometimes it requires practice.
Our Bible verse this month is:
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” ~ Ephesians 2:8
Saving is all God’s idea and all God’s work. Grace is God’s gift from start to finish! God does the making and the saving. It’s is not by works, so we cannot boast. All we can do is trust God enough to let God do the work.
We look forward to seeing you at FaithTrek on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 am!
