Jackie Allen and Susie Thorne, two of Nebraska’s favorite jazz vocalists, are teaming up for the first 2023-24 First Friday Jazz concert from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on October 6 at the First Lutheran Church Activity Center, 1551 South 70th Street, in Lincoln.
The concert is being offered as a “Dueling Divas” performance. Their repertoire will include a “contest of who sang it better” while each will sing a classic standard in their own differing style. A number of vocal duets will be sung along with an original medley of Burt Bacharach and Hal David songs. They will be accompanied by Jeff Jenkins on piano, Hans Sturm on bass, and Joey Gulizia on percussion.
This marks the 12th season of First Friday Jazz noon concerts. There is no admission charge and lunch is available for purchase. The concerts are offered as First Lutheran’s outreach gift to the Lincoln community and an East Lincoln performance venue.
Audience members are encouraged to bring gifts of non-perishable foods for the Lincoln Lutheran Food Pantry.
