First Lutheran has received bottles of the 2023 fall harvest of olive oil from the Mount of Olives located in East Jerusalem. The sale of the oil from the olive trees helps support the Augusta Victoria Hospital (AVH), owned and operated by Lutheran World Federation, and one of the 16 partners at this year’s Gifts of Hope market. The staff and patients are suffering from the devastating effects of the Israel-Palestinian war. AVH provides specialized life-saving cancer and dialysis treatment and pediatric care. In the middle of this disaster around the globe, how do we begin to offer hope for innocent people? 100% of the money from the oil purchased will go directly to AVH to support the additional accommodation cost of patients, costs of medical supplies and transportation and outeach to treat people injured in the conflict.There are limited supplies available so stop by the Gathering Area tomorrow morning before or after worship or during regular office hours (M-F 9:00 am-4:00 pm) to get your 8.5 oz. bottle of oil with a donation of $15.
