October’s learning word of the month is “Baptism.” At Baptism we are welcomed into a whole new family – our church family. The intergenerational event this Sunday from 9:30-10:30 am will give us all a chance to get to know our church family and live into the promises we made (or were made for us) at our Baptism or Affirmation of Baptism – to live among God’s faithful people, to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of Jesus and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.
We will have some ice breakers to get better acquainted and have time for conversations and some hands-on activities, like making bookmarks with our favorite Bible verses, cutting and tying blankets for children in the hospital and making cards for our shut ins and college students. We invite ALL ages to participate. Older youth and adults can help the younger students write messages and verses while the younger children can share some of their energy and enthusiasm with those of us who are older and wish we had more!
