Join the Journey of Compassion with Stephen Ministry Training

By November 15, 2024Care Ministry, News, Serve

While serving in the Stephen Ministry, I am provided the opportunity to serve others while serving God. I no longer see a problem that needs to be fixed, rather I see a wonderful opportunity to provide support, love and encouragement to my neighbor during challenging times. We are called to walk with one another and love one another as Christ loved us. Stephen Ministry is committed to providing Christ centered care for those experiencing challenges in daily life, such as job loss, divorce, death, raising children and many other common challenges. It is important people know they are not alone, that we all experience life challenges and the First Lutheran Church family is here simply to listen and love.

~Amy Harrison, First Lutheran Member

You know, life can throw some pretty tough challenges our way. We’ve all been there – feeling overwhelmed, facing pain and just needing someone to listen. That’s why First Lutheran’s Stephen Ministry is so important. It’s not about giving quick solutions or handing out advice; it’s about having a caring companion by your side who truly listens, asks the right questions and creates a safe space for you to express what you’re going through. It’s a comforting thought knowing there are people ready to support you.

Being a Stephen Minister is not taken lightly. Each individual undergoes specialized training to assume this role, supplemented by continuous mentoring and support beyond the initial training phase. It’s why Stephen Ministers have such a profound impact on the lives of those they accompany.

If you’re feeling that little nudge to get involved in this caring ministry, we encourage you to take the next step by enrolling in our next Stephen Ministry training class starting in January 2025. And if you know someone who could really benefit from having a Stephen Minister in their life, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Referrals are always welcome!

For more details, you can connect with Pastor Erin, Pastor Andrew or the Stephen Ministry Leader, Faye Doolittle. Be a part of a caring ministry that makes a difference in the lives of others.
