This year, 2020, has been a year of challenges for everyone; from a pandemic that has upended our daily lives, to a nation divided by old wounds of racism and inequality, and of catastrophic weather events and wildfires. We are weary. For many reasons, 2020 has been a time of fear, anxiety, and waiting – waiting for the time when we can gather together physically and for a loving and supportive community for all. Soon, the presidential election will be here. As Christians, we know that prayer is important for individuals and for communities. When the Body of Christ is enclosed in prayer it is powerful indeed.
First Lutheran Church invites everyone to participate in a 24-Hour Prayer Vigil prior to the election on November 3. May this vigil be one of heartfelt sharing with the Divine what is on your heart, whether it is anxiety, fear, sadness, or perhaps even hope. Please join us in this prayer vigil and bring with you whatever is on your heart. God will listen.
We invite you to be a part of the Prayer Vigil by signing up for a 30-minute prayer slot at https://flclincoln.ivolunteer.com/event_004. Prayer resources will be provided during the Vigil.
Please share this invitation with your friends and family. All are welcome to participate.
