Lent is a season that gently invites us to slow down, reflect and return—return to God, to one another and to the call to love our neighbors as ourselves. This year at First Lutheran Church, we will walk this Lenten journey together with the theme Good Neighbors, exploring how our faith is lived out in simple, meaningful acts of care, compassion and presence.
Midweek Lenten Worship: Holden Evening Prayer
Throughout Lent, you are invited to pause midweek for Holden Evening Prayer, a simple, contemplative service shaped by scripture, silence and song. Services will be held on Wednesdays—February 25; March 4, 11, 18 and 25—at 12:00 PM and 6:30 PM.
Each week at the evening service, members of our congregation or our community will share stories of how they are living as Good Neighbors, responding to the needs of those around them in everyday ways. These reflections will remind us that Lent is not only about personal devotion, but about how God’s love moves through us and into the world.
Sharing Meals, Community and Conversation
Lent is also a season for gathering. Following the noon service, a lunch will be served at 12:30 PM. Prior to the evening service, dinner will be offered at 5:30 PM. These shared meals create space for connection, conversation and the simple joy of being together—another way we practice being good neighbors to one another.
Whether you come seeking quiet reflection, meaningful worship or a deeper sense of connection, Lent at First Lutheran is a journey you don’t have to walk alone. Come as you are and join us as we listen, reflect and learn what it means to live faithfully as Good Neighbors in the world God so loves.
