Why do we have a stewardship season? Is it only because the church needs money? Well, yes, that’s part of it. We know that it takes funding to make our ministries and programs run and our church building open and functioning for worship, activities and outreach.
But we also take time in our life together to talk about why we give. That’s the reason for our guiding verse this season, Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” During the last few weeks, we’ve been taking time as a congregation to treasure the work of God in our lives and our church. If you haven’t had a chance yet to hear Aubrey Paulsen’s stewardship moment from this past Sunday, you can hear it below. You won’t want to miss her story about First Lutheran’s impact on the Paulsen family and other stewardship moments from other First Lutheran members at https://flclincoln.org/stewardship.
Because of what God has done for us, we pledge our resources – our treasure – to the ongoing work of Christ in this church. We give because of the love we have already received and experienced through Jesus Christ.
If you have already returned your pledge of giving and discipleship plan for 2024, THANK YOU! If you are still discerning your giving for the coming year, we ask that you turn in your pledge and discipleship plan by this Sunday, October 1. Completing both greatly helps First Lutheran’s leadership to thoughtfully plan and budget for the next year and the ministry staff to connect and engage you in ways that are meaningful to you.
You can put your pledge card in the offering plate at church on Sunday morning or you can fill out the pledge card and discipleship plan online at https://flclincoln.org/stewardship. (This makes the work on our end a lot faster, so please fill it out online if possible.
Thank you for your faithful generosity to God’s work through First Lutheran!
