As a church, we believe God is calling us into the world as disciples to share Jesus’ love through service with our neighbors.
Our “God’s Work Our Hands” serve event on September 8 and 9 gives us all an opportunity to live out our faith in service to others. We have partnership projects planned with CASA, Matt Talbot, Child Advocacy Center, People’s City Mission, Lincoln Housing Authority, Mosaic, Tabitha Meals on Wheels, Community Crops, Lincoln World Relief, The Nature Center, Food Net, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran Center and many more!
We will need many volunteers, such as yourself, to meet the needs of these organizations. Work projects will be on Saturday, September 8, from 9:00 am-Noon, and Sunday, August 9, from 1:00-4:00 pm. Online sign up for projects will begin this Saturday, August 18, and close September 2. Sign up early! You can also sign up for food donations in the Commons starting August 18.
Mark your calendar and plan to join us for “God’s Work Our Hands!”
(Take a moment and watch the video to see what “God’s Work Our Hands” looked like when over 150 volunteers came together in 2016!)
At First Lutheran, we are a community of disciples of Jesus Christ working for the transformation of the world. Throughout our history, we have remained committed to drawing on our Lutheran (ELCA) tradition of using meaningful worship, content-rich learning and warm hospitality to care well for our congregation, the surrounding community and the world.
