Our high schoolers and adults who were in Florida last week on an accompaniment trip made it home safely this afternoon!
After departing Florida on Friday, they traveled to Nashville to spend the night. They did some sightseeing and touring of the city on Saturday, including the Frist Art Museum and State Capitol. By Saturday evening, they had made their way to Kansas City, KS, where they spent the night at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church. This morning the church treated them to breakfast pizza and welcomed them into their worship service. The group got a bit smaller over the course of the two days as five of the youth went in different directions with their parents before the rest of the group arrived home around 12:30 pm today.
Here is a reflection from one of the youth about their time together these last two days:
Saturday was filled with a mixture of tourism and driving. To start off the day we went on a walking tour of Nashville and everyone split up in groups to have lunch. After Nashville we continued to drive through the remainder of Tennessee. Then, through a good portion of Illinois before we stopped for dinner at a random McDonalds and gas station on the side of the road before continuing on through Illinois and crossing the entirety of Missouri to get to where we stopped for the night at a church. I really hope we can fly next time. My favorite part of the trip was spending time at the beach and the sandbar. ~Vin T.
