Whether it was road-testing Elaine’s game of Skull and rolling the dice at Velda’s Bunco table, laughing their way through Baloney at the Maacks’, competing in Catch Phrase with Tera and Cindy or venturing onto Mermaid Island, appeasing the Hungry Hippo and puzzling through Guess in 10 at the Pfisters’, more than 50 members and friends of First Lutheran showed up for fun for the pop-up game gatherings.
The results were crystal-clear. Here’s a sampling:
“Thanks for making us feel like ‘family’!”
“It felt so good to laugh!”
“Each person in our four generation pop-up had a great time.”
“I got to know new people. It’ll be easy to pick up right where we left off when we see each other at church.”
“I hope our group gets together again.”
“We’d love to see something like this happen on a frequent basis.”
Pastor Erin’s interest in growing small group connections was the impetus for First Lutheran’s Pop-Up series. Hosts Velda Schmidt, Cindy Lilleoien and Tera Beermann, Tim and Linda Maack and the Pfister family rolled out their “Welcome” mats. A Thrivent grant provided snacks and support.
