Thank you, First Lutherans, for your unwavering support of the CROP Hunger Walk! Since 1988, the Lincoln Walks have raised over $1,097,750 to combat hunger and poverty, with a quarter of the proceeds going to food agencies in the Lincoln and Lancaster area.
Church World Service (CWS) plays a vital role by providing nutritious food, clean water, and resources like seeds, livestock (bees, sheep, cows, pigs, goats, chickens, and fish), renewable energy technologies, disaster response initiatives and opportunities to amplify women’s voices. CWS also supports refugees and asylum seekers while promoting global resilience through education on food security, nutrition, climate-adaptive agriculture, disaster preparedness, sustainable farming, hygiene, waste management and animal husbandry.
We invite you to join the walk or support a First Lutheran walker financially. The Lincoln CROP Hunger Walk will take place on Sunday, October 13th, with a virtual option available one week before or after the event. The Lincoln walk starts at Our Saviour’s Church, 1200 S. 40th St. (south doors), with registration at 1:00 PM, commissioning at 1:20 PM and the walk at 1:30 PM.
To participate, walkers and donors should sign in online. If you’re a walker, click ‘Join or start a team’ and enter ‘First Lutheran’ to find our team. Select ‘Join the Team’ and follow the prompts to complete your registration. After creating your personal page, reach out to friends, family and colleagues for sponsorship through online donations.
To donate, click the ‘Make a Donation’ gold bar. After entering your donation amount, please specify ‘First Lutheran’ or a specific walker in the text box. While online donations are preferred, in-person contributions are welcome. If donating by check or cash, please indicate the funds are for CROP and leave your contribution with the church office or give it to a walker.
If you have any questions, contact Sandy Latshaw.
