Our high school youth and adult leaders are on their way home—but not before packing their final days with service, laughter and plenty of memories!
On Friday, the group traveled to Latrobe, Pennsylvania—home of Mr. Rogers, Arnold Palmer and the banana split. Our youth and adults served throughout the community by preparing meals for homebound residents, helping at a local men’s shelter, organizing a food pantry and completing yardwork for Ms. Karen and Ms. Sue.
Beckett shared, “In Latrobe, I had a ton of fun helping Karen and her roommate Sue. It made my day—they were very nice women, and I loved seeing the smiles on their faces! At Idlewild, I had so much fun going on the zero-gravity ride with Maxx.”
Maya said, “My group organized the food pantry and made sure all of the food was good to give to people who need it. I felt really grateful for the food I have, and it made my heart happy that I could help. Then we went to Idlewild and spent time with the youth from our church, went to the water park and rode a lot of amusement park rides. Later that night, our group and another group did a GooseChase scavenger hunt around the university and got frozen yogurt. It was a great day all around!”
Stephen added, “While in Latrobe, I helped clean and organize a food pantry for back-to-school. After lunch, my group went to Idlewild and rode some roller coasters for fun.”
Jenna shared, “I really enjoyed getting to help Ms. Karen trim her hedges. She had been waiting a year to get them cut, and being able to do that for her was so rewarding! I also enjoyed spending time at the water park!”
The day ended with a trip to Rally House to bring home some awesome Pitt gear!
We are grateful for the many ways our youth and adults served, learned, grew and accompanied others throughout this incredible week. Please keep them in your prayers as they finish their journey home!
