Returning to home villages during school breaks can be risky for young students in northern Tanzania due to traditional Maasai customs. ERIPOTO (meaning safety=security), a Tanzanian nonprofit founded by Esuvat Lukumay, supports girls by providing a safe house during breaks and a residence for young mothers during the school year. The organization offers counseling, education seminars, sewing lessons and aims to empower women and girls in Tanzania to combat inequalities through social-economic empowerment and education.
ERIPOTO has been a partner at First Lutheran’s annual Gifts of Hope alternative market for several years. This Sunday during worship, you can show your support for ERIPOTO through our Noisy Offering. Remember to bring your loose change (and dollar bills!) and join us in making a joyful noise to empower Tanzanian women and girls!
