Jesus says it plainly: “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:13–14)
In Sunday’s sermon, Pastor Andrew reminded us that salt is never meant to be consumed on its own. Salt exists to preserve, to season, and to bring out what is good. In the same way, we are called as disciples of Jesus to live a faith that adds flavor to the world and light to dark places—advocating for justice, feeding the hungry, clothing the homeless—not for our own sake, but for the good of our neighbors.
Salt and light. Not one without the other. Given by God. Lived for others.
