Dear First Lutheran Church,
Thank you for your $1,000 donation you made to The Lutheran Center. We give thanks for your generosity.
Our transitional interim pastor, Pastor Liz Kocher, is now on campus sharing time with students! It is a blessing to see students at the Lutheran Center gathering for worship, small group activities and just hanging out in the lounge together. We are grateful for your prayers and support and thank you for being a part of this invitation.
Thank you for your heart for all we serve together in Christ’s name.
Peace and blessings,
Jon Fredricks, Executive Director
Dear First Lutheran Church,
On behalf of the 500+ friends and neighbors who rely on Tabitha Meals on Wheels to remain safe and independent in their home, THANK YOU for your generous contribution!
Your donation of $2,000 provides so much to grateful Lincoln residents, such as:
- Hot, nutritious and tasty meals, 365 days a year
- Safety and wellbeing checks
- Friendly visits and smiles from dedicated volunteers
- Peace of mind for families and friends, knowing our neighbor is taking care of them
More than 81% of our local meal recipients cannot afford the cost of their meal. This is an 11% increase in the past year alone! Across the country, many other home-based food services are closing or putting people on long waiting lists. Yet, Tabitha Meals on Wheels is able to serve more people in need because you continue to care.
With your support, we are able to continue to say yes to those in need. Thank you for your support of this vital community service through the hearts and hands of Tabitha.
Sincerely,
JP Lauterbach, Director of Development and Christine Hinrichs, President and CEO

Dear Friends of First Lutheran,
Thank you for your organization’s recent gift of $921 to Lutheran World Relief! When you love your neighbors with your generous gifts to LWR, you change lives in amazing ways.
For Walaa Ali al Ali, a Syrian refugee living in Lebanon, your love arrived in the form of a beehive. As the primary breadwinner for her family – including her mother, her developmentally disabled brother, a niece and a nephew – she struggled to find work amid Lebanon’s economic crisis. Her family was safe from war in Syria, but they didn’t have access to adequate food or basic medical care.
Through LWR, Walaa enrolled in a livelihoods program for refugees and received all the training and supplies she needed to start a business as a beekeeper. With the money she earned, she also planted a vegetable garden to help feed her family. Now she’s earning enough to keep her family afloat and she’s even training other women how to produce and sell honey.
Thank you for saving and transforming lives by loving your neighbors like Walaa!
God bless you!
Warm regards,
Daniel Speckhard, President and CEO
Dear Friends,
You are a blessing! We are so thankful for your gift of $125.93! You are a great example of stewardship of the gifts God gives that we also see come to life in our Summer Ministry Team each year. Leading by example is one of the greatest ways we can show others the love God has for them and you are a shining example.
Thank you for continuing to love our campers, staff and the work we do here as faith comes alive for our guests.
With joy and thanks,
Trish Haniszewki, Development Officer of Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries
Dear First Lutheran Church,
Thank you for your $500 gift of support! Because of YOU a family is safe and unharmed today. You are a partner in the work that we do – and that also makes you a part of their story of survival and new beginnings. For nearly 45 years, we have provided for survivors of intimate partner violence – in whatever way they needed. Those needs have increased and become more complex over time, but Friendship Home has stepped up to find a solution at every turn. We have grown as new needs emerge.
Recently, we were informed of a woman who was traveling to Lincoln after fleeing an abusive relationship out west. Her name was Lucia. It was a dangerous situation and her children were with her. She was heading to her mothers’ house but knew that her abuser would follow her. We were able to offer her an alternative confidential shelter that her husband would not find. Lucia said:
“I never dreamed that this could happen to me. I am educated, had a responsible job and a lovely home. My husband’s abuse became life threatening. He told me that he would dismember me and then described in detail how he would do that which mean he had thought about it in detail. I did not stick around to find out more.”
Your compassion ensures that those who suffer terrifying violence can find a way out … and a way up. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Sande Dirks and Angie Hilsabeck, Donor Relations
