The chancel – where our Lord comes to dwell with us with his body and blood – has been stripped of its glory. The solo voice intones Psalm 22, the prophetic psalm which begins, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” These are words Christ will speak from the cross. We reflect on these words and actions as we progress through Holy Week, anticipating Good Friday tomorrow.
