This summer many of the First Lutheran high school youth will be attending the ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas. In this massive event, 30,000 young Lutherans will join together to do service and learn about God. We will be going to mass worship and participating in bible studies, games and more. This year’s theme, This Changes Everything, comes from Ephesians 2:8. We hope to learn about God’s grace and how it can change and benefit people. I am looking forward to the experience of being with a large group of people who share similar beliefs in God. I can only imagine what it would be like to be in a room like that. I hope this experience will help the other youth and me become better disciples by showing us we are not alone and our faith is shared.
I would also like to thank the congregation for all their support they give to the youth. It helps so much and allows us to worship, learn and serve in ways other youth are not able to.
