What happened in New Orleans yesterday? Read on!
Yesterday we started the day with Region 4 worship (representing NE, MO, IA, OK, TX and LA). The room was filled. We sang, had communion and heard a message from Bishop Susan Candea (Central States). She shared part of a Richard Rohr devotion that reminded us that in a world that is big, bad and scary we are called to be beautiful, strong and kind for as long as we can. After worship we spent several hours on an around-the-town scavenger hunt looking for things like the oldest street in the French Quarter and St. Louis Cathedral. We had fun dressing up in Mardi Gras costumes and learning about the city. We ate lunch at Napoleon’s…read the photo shared to learn about this historic place. We got caught in the rain but still had lots of fun. Our evening gathering was again filled with great music and speakers. Drew Tucker reminded us that God doesn’t need us to be someone else to be loved. God created us to be free to be who we are.
Owen Paulsen recapped our day and shared his favorite part: “Today we got to sleep in just a little bit before worshiping this morning. After worship we started our scavenger hunt which would be scored against other churches. (We tied for 2nd) As we ate lunch it started to thunderstorm. After the storms, we finished the scavenger hunt and went to the Smoothie King Center to finish the night out with everyone. The gator po’ boy was very good as well as the shrimp po’ boy I had for dinner.” (The youth are really enjoying the food).
