Town Hall Meeting Brings Strong Turnout and Meaningful Conversation

By May 8, 2026News

Thank you to everyone who attended Sunday’s Town Hall Meeting and Potluck. It was a strong turnout of First Lutheran members and a meaningful opportunity to gather as a church family, welcome new members, hear important updates and learn about new ways First Lutheran is living out its mission in the community.

The meeting included a welcome to our newest members and an introduction to fresh opportunities for partnership with Connection Point, located near 33rd and Holdrege. Pr. Katherine Ebling-Frazier shared more about Connection Point’s work and invited First Lutheran to consider ways to get to know and serve our neighbors, including the possibility of helping develop Lincoln’s first culturally inclusive food pantry at Connection Point.

Treasurer Kari Hoeft presented a church budget update and shared that mortgage payments have been reduced following the successful campaign. Barb gave a recap of Justice in Action’s April 30 Nehemiah Action Assembly, where 60 members and friends of First were part of a record attendance of 1,261 people representing 27 local faith communities.

Mark Wemhoff also outlined creative plans for connection and outreach being launched by the Community Connections & Collaborations Team, offering a look at new ways First Lutheran will continue building relationships within the congregation and beyond.

Thank you to the Fellowship Committee for hosting the Town Hall Potluck and creating a welcoming space for conversation and connection. Judy Batterman also announced upcoming fellowship opportunities, including First Lutheran Night at the Saltdogs’ Game and a tailgating event. More details will be shared soon.

Mark your calendar for the next Town Hall Meeting on Sunday, July 26, at noon.
