This month our Confirmation Dinner+Learning group have been focusing on their ideal faith futures. They learned that to have the faith future they most want it will require four things:
1) Vision – What do you what to see in your ideal faith future?
2) Knowledge – What do you need to know to get it?
3) Effort – What is the work you need to do to make it a reality?
4) Hope – Will you have faith when the going gets tough?
Each person began to work on their vision by choosing words from a selection of 24 on a sticker sheet. They selected four words they most want and four words they least want in their ideal faith futures.
They tallied their choices and found that, collectively, their top most wanted words were acceptance, inner strength and peace. Their top least wanted words they share were conflict, discrimination, intolerant and loneliness.
Each person continued to work on their vision by drawing a picture, using symbols, to represent what they want their four most wanted words to look like in their ideal faith future. There were some amazing visions created!
Now that they all have their visions of their ideal faith future, the next three steps kick in and the real work begins – the work to get it!
What about you? What would you most want to see or have in your ideal faith future? Would you be willing to do the work to get it?
