Wild Women of First Throw a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta to Remember!

By May 7, 2025Events, News

On May 5, the Wild Women of First showed us all how it’s done – yet again. With big hearts, endless energy and a knack for turning any event into the party of the year, they took Cinco de Mayo and cranked it up a notch. Didn’t make it? Let’s just say… you really missed out. If you did make it, you were greeted in true VIP style: golf cart valet to whisk you to the door, where a feather boa hanging out front screamed, “Yes, you’ve arrived at the party!”

The night started with the Wild Women strutting in, rocking vibrant Mexican-themed glasses and ready to bring the party! No Mexican hat dance in sight, but who needs it when you’ve got YMCA arms, John Travolta disco vibes and a throwback to The Hustle? Oh, and yes, there was a Chicken Polka – because nothing says “glorious sass” like a room full of women clucking in rhythm.

The Wild Woman guitar was back, waiting for bold new Wild Women to sign it because nothing says “Wild Woman of First” like rocking out and leaving your mark in style!

The Wild Women aren’t just about fun – they’re about heart. During the celebration, they paused the party to sign cards for First’s graduating high school seniors, sending loads of love and encouragement their way. Who says you can’t party and pay it forward at the same time?

Creativity was in full bloom as the ladies decorated cute pots for succulents. These tiny works of art will be gifted to our homebound members, because the Wild Women’s love isn’t just boundless – it’s potted and thriving!

When it came time for Cinco de Mayo Jeopardy, things got competitive. The stakes? A piñata stuffed with candy. Watching the Wild Women go full piñata warrior was one of many laugh-out-loud moments of the night.

The food was fabulous, but the highlight? Cookies from Candy Alvarez, an inspiring entrepreneur and head baker supported by ECHO Collective in Lincoln, which empowers refugee and immigrant women. Supporting Candy while devouring her treats? A win-win in every sense.

The 48 Wild Women ranged from 17 to nearly 90, proving age is just a number when it comes to having a good time.

  • Shari and Navy, mother/daughter dream team, snagged the corn candle stick holders “just because” – because who needs an excuse to be celebrated when you’re already a Wild Woman?
  • Elaine, our eldest Wild Woman, rocked a wild hat and glasses and snagged a Wild Woman trophy like a total legend.
  • Kay, one of the Jeopardy champions and general queen, took her trophy home to sit next to her husband’s Emmy. (Yes, Emmy!)
  • Lillie, with just 26 days to go until she says “I do,” snagged the traveling Wild Woman trophy vase because nothing says wedding decor like a little wildness!
  • Cindy, the queen of dance moves, walked away with the coveted Wild Woman dancing shoes for teaching the Wild Women Viral TikTok-worthy moves. Honestly, a few of the women could moonwalk straight onto Dancing With the Stars and steal the show!

The Wild Women of First proved yet again that life is better when you dance, laugh and lift each other up. If you missed this epic celebration, don’t sweat it – there’s always next time. Mark your calendar for Monday, July 21, because trust us, you won’t want to miss the next party.

Here’s to the Wild Women of First – living life to the fullest, one unforgettable celebration at a time. Cheers to more laughter, more dancing and enough good vibes to power a small city.
