Our “Traveling With the Wisemen” God’s Work Our Hands Mini Cross Generational Vacation Bible School on January 2 and 3 offers you and your family time to be in community with other First Lutheran members and our Lincoln neighbors, the chance to give back after receiving so much at Christmas, an opportunity to relieve some of the post-holiday blues and boredom and experience the joy of living out what Jesus calls us to do in Matthew 25 – …to feed, clothe, and visit “the least of these.” This cross generational service event will challenge us to look for Jesus in our neighbors and to live out our call as Christians. There’s something for everyone (ALL ages are invited!) – preparing and/or serving a meal at Matt Talbot, stocking food shelves at the Food Pantry or making winter kits for the homeless! Sign up for a project that interests you and suits your schedule – both days or just one project! Serve with a friend or two! We will also gather together on Thursday, January 4, to make mini pizzas and talk about where we have found Jesus since Christmas Day and watch, “The Star,” which tells the Christmas story through the eyes of the donkey. Sign up online by December 17!
We are also in need of donations of star cookie cutters (please label if you want back), winter gloves, chapstick, tissue packets and hand warmers for Matt Talbot Kits. A few volunteers are making winter hats the Kits, but we will take store bought ones as well. Food donations are also needed, and monetary donations are always welcome. Contact Sharon Hardel for specifics or more information.
