Update on Calling a Lead Pastor

By November 10, 2020News

by Pastor Steve Griffith, Transition Pastor

The Ministry Site Profile (MSP) is complete, has been approved by the Church Council and will be submitted to the “Mobility Database System.” This is the nationwide online listing of ELCA congregations who are seeking pastors and pastors who are seeking calls. The Council is grateful to all the members who responded to the survey last spring and those who recently offered comments on the draft version of the MSP. The Call Committee has selected Steve Eicher to chair the committee. They will meet for training with Pastor Megan Morrow, the Assistant to the Bishop, who is working with First Lutheran. You can contact Steve and the Committee at info@flclincoln.org. Meanwhile, the Council is considering options to secure additional staff during this time of transition. First Lutheran is well known not only in Nebraska, but nationwide. Your congregation deserves and will attract the best and brightest pastors in the country. It may seem the search is taking a long time, but we are ahead of the common timeline. You can afford to take time to be selective and find the best pastors for First Lutheran. As one of the Call Committee members commented, “This is a time to be patient and trust the process.”
